Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in American and English Literature, as well as Psychology, from the University of Arizona in Tucson. He went on to teach High School Literature, where he was honored with the "Teacher of the Year" award in his first year of teaching.
Jeanice, also a graduate of the University of Arizona, has been actively engaged in Corporate America since 1999. The early years of her career presented a unique set of challenges as she navigated the demands of building a professional path while simultaneously starting a family. During this time, advice, opinions, and judgments often flowed freely from friends, family, and colleagues, typically reflecting a range of worldviews rather than the deeper truths of life’s author. Balancing personal priorities with the expectations of family and work often created tension, as families are continuously pulled in multiple directions. Ultimately, it becomes a matter of time before one of the many responsibilities being juggled may inevitably fall.
They invited God to their wedding but not into their marriage. Though both were raised in the church, they never truly developed the personal relationship with Him that others spoke about. Following worldly advice and societal expectations, they made every mistake a couple could make, all the while, they could never quite understand the emptiness they felt.
In 2005, after relocating to Colorado, their struggles reached a breaking point, forcing them to make a critical decision: submit to God and embrace His design for marriage and family, or walk away and start over. In today’s culture, many view a first marriage as a "starter marriage"—but was this to be their legacy?
When life comes crashing down and reality sets in, priorities become clear:
Jesus. Marriage. Family.
God transformed Michael’s heart and set him on a new, greater path through His Son, Jesus Christ. This journey led Michael to Denver Seminary in Littleton, Colorado, where he pursued studies in Theology and the integration of counseling theories, with the goal of guiding individuals and couples through their struggles.
The foundation of 180 Christian Counseling & Marriage Ministries was deeply personal—born from Michael and Jeanice’s own 180-degree transformation in their marriage. Through their journey, they discovered the true meaning of covenant marriage—one built on joy, peace, and genuine love. However, this transformation did not come without great sacrifice. Michael received intensive personal counseling during his time at Denver Seminary, ultimately earning two Master’s degrees: one in Counseling Ministries and another in Mental Health Counseling.
Often, it takes weeks, months, or even years to recognize God's hand at work in our lives—through discipline, refinement, and transformation. Yet, having experienced the truth of Romans 8:28 firsthand, Michael and Jeanice felt compelled to share the hope and love of God with others.
Married since 1998, Michael and Jeanice have two adult children and reside in Morrison, Colorado.
